Biography
Marc Wootton is an English actor, comedian and writer. He was born on 8 February 1975 in Portsmouth, Hampshire.
He began performing as a schoolboy and created early comedy characters that appeared at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. His breakthrough came with the Channel 4 gameshow My New Best Friend. He created and starred in series including High Spirits with Shirley Ghostman, La La Land and High & Dry.
Wootton is known for his role as Mr Poppy in the Nativity! film series (2009–2014) and appearances in Inside No. 9 (2014) as John, Gavin & Stacey (2007) as Duncan, Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel (2009) as Toby, and voice work in Arthur Christmas (2011). He has also performed in theatre productions including at the National Theatre and RSC. He received a British Comedy Award in 2003 and a Rose d’Or Award in 2004.
