Biography
Margaret John (1926–2011) was a Welsh actress. Born in Swansea, she trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, graduating in 1950. She began her career in theatre and radio before making her television debut in 1956.
Over a career spanning more than five decades, she appeared in numerous television series including Crossroads, Doctor Who (both the 1963 and 2005 series), Gavin & Stacey (as Doris O'Neill), High Hopes and Game of Thrones (as Old Nan). Film credits include Run Fatboy Run (2007). She received a BAFTA Cymru lifetime achievement award in 2009.
