Biography
María Martín was a Spanish actress. Born María Martín Vargas on 14 July 1923 in Marbella, Málaga, she made her screen debut in 1943 and appeared in around eighty films and several television series until the late 1990s. She was occasionally credited as Mery Martin early in her career and as Mary Martin in some English-language productions.
Martín worked in Spanish, Italian and Mexican cinema. Her credits include Journey to Italy (1954) as Judy (uncredited), Dawn of America (1951), Murders in the Rue Morgue (1971) and Golden Balls (1993). She lived in Mexico for several years and was of Swedish descent. Martín died on 10 June 2014 in Barcelona, aged 90.
