Biography

Maria Simon is a German actress. Born in Leipzig on 6 February 1976, she studied acting at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin and received her diploma in 1999.

She is known for her role as Ariane in the 2003 film Good Bye, Lenin!. She won the Best Actress award at the 2000 Moscow International Film Festival for Zornige Küsse and was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 2003 German Film Awards. In 2004 she was named a European Shooting Star at the Berlinale.

Simon has worked extensively in television, including a recurring role as Olga Lenski in the long-running crime series Polizeiruf 110.
