Biography
Mario Adorf was a German actor. Born in Zürich, Switzerland, on 8 September 1930, he was raised in Germany and trained at the Otto Falckenberg School of the Performing Arts in Munich.
He appeared in over 200 film and television productions from 1954 to 2023. His credits include Berto Consalvi in The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (1970) and Alfred Matzerath in The Tin Drum (1979). He worked with directors including Volker Schlöndorff, Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Dario Argento, and received multiple German Film Awards.
Adorf died in Paris on 8 April 2026 after a short illness.
