Biography
Mario Morra (1935–2024) was an Italian film editor, director and screenwriter. Born in Rome, he began working as an assistant editor in the early 1960s and made his debut as a film editor in 1964.
He edited Gillo Pontecorvo's The Battle of Algiers (1966) and Giuseppe Tornatore's Cinema Paradiso (1988), for which he received a BAFTA nomination for Best Editing in 1990. Morra worked on numerous other films, including Divorce Italian Style (1961, as assistant editor), the Flatfoot series and Everybody's Fine (1990). In the 1970s and 1980s he also directed or wrote several documentaries and Mondo films, often in collaboration with Antonio Climati.
Morra died on 11 October 2024 in Castelnuovo di Porto, near Rome.
