Biography

Mark Orton is an American composer and musician. He composed the score for the 2023 film The Holdovers, directed by Alexander Payne, with whom he had previously collaborated on Nebraska (2013). His other film credits include The Good Girl (2002), My Old Lady (2014), Love Hard (2021) and 12 Mighty Orphans (2021).

Orton is a founding member of the chamber music group Tin Hat. He trained at the Peabody Conservatory and the Hartt School of Music, and received a Sundance Institute Composer Fellowship. A multi-instrumentalist and collector of antique instruments, he lives in Portland, Oregon.
