Biography
Marty Balin (born Martyn Jerel Buchwald) was an American singer and musician who appeared as himself in several concert documentaries. He performed with Jefferson Airplane in Monterey Pop (1968), Woodstock (1970) and Gimme Shelter (1970).
Balin was also credited as a holographic band singer (as The Jefferson Starship) in The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978). He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on 30 January 1942 and died on 27 September 2018.
