Biography
Mary Doran was an American actress. Born in New York City on 8 September 1910, she attended public schools and Columbia University before leaving to pursue a stage career. She appeared in the Broadway productions Betsy (1926) and Rio Rita, and was later spotted by MGM talent scouts.
Doran made her film debut in 1928 and appeared in more than eighty films until 1944, often in supporting or uncredited roles. She was under contract to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1929. Her credits include The Broadway Melody (1929) as Flo, They Learned About Women (1930), The Divorcee (1930) and Movie Crazy (1932). She was also known by the names Freida Applebaum and Florence Arnot.
