Biography
Mary Young, also credited as Mary Marsden Young, was an American stage, film and television actress. She began her career in the theatre, with her first Broadway credit in 1899, and later appeared opposite John Barrymore in the 1913 production of Believe Me, Xantippe. With her husband, actor John Craig, she managed and performed at Boston's Castle Square Theatre for 21 years.
Young entered films in 1937, often playing elderly women, frequently in uncredited roles. Her credits include The Lost Weekend (1945) as Mrs. Deveridge, The Women (1939), Foreign Correspondent (1940), An American in Paris (1951) and Around the World in 80 Days (1956). She also appeared in television series such as Perry Mason (1957) and Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. (1968). She died in La Jolla, California, in 1971.
