Biography
Masao Mishima was a Japanese actor. Born Masao Nagaoka on 2 January 1906 in Niigata, he began his film career in 1935 and appeared in more than 240 productions over nearly four decades.
He is known for supporting roles in Late Spring (1949) as Jo Onodera, The Human Condition I: No Greater Love (1959) as Kuroki Shochô, Pigs and Battleships (1961) as Himori, Harakiri (1962) as Inaba Tango, Zatoichi's Pilgrimage (1966) as Nanashino Gonbei, Samurai Rebellion (1967) as Sanzaemon Yanase, and Horus: Prince of the Sun (1968) as the Village Leader (voice). He frequently worked with directors including Masaki Kobayashi and Mikio Naruse.
Mishima died on 18 July 1973 in Tokyo.
