Biography
Masayuki Mori was a Japanese actor. Born Yukimitsu Arishima on 13 January 1911 in Sapporo, he was the son of novelist Takeo Arishima. He began his career as a stage actor in the late 1920s and 1930s with several Tokyo theatre groups before making his film debut in the early 1940s.
Mori appeared in numerous films by Akira Kurosawa, including Rashomon (1950) as the samurai Takehiro, The Idiot (1951) as Kinji Kameda and The Bad Sleep Well (1960) as Public Corporation Vice President Iwabuchi. He also starred in works by Kenji Mizoguchi such as Ugetsu (1953) as Genjurô and by Mikio Naruse including Floating Clouds (1955) as Kengo Tomioka and When a Woman Ascends the Stairs (1960) as Nobuhiko Fujisaki. He continued acting until his death on 7 October 1973 in Tokyo.
