Biography
Matheus Nachtergaele is a Brazilian actor, film director and screenwriter. Born in São Paulo in 1968, he trained at the School of Dramatic Arts at the University of São Paulo and gained early recognition in theatre with the company Teatro da Vertigem.
He is known for his performances in Central Station (1998) as Isaías Paiva, O Auto da Compadecida (2000) as João Grilo, and City of God (2002) as Sandro Cenoura. Nachtergaele has also appeared in Four Days in September (1997) and Mango Yellow (2002). He made his directorial debut with The Dead Girl's Feast (2008).
Nachtergaele has received multiple awards, including two Best Actor prizes at the Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro for Midnight (1998) and O Auto da Compadecida.
