Biography
Mathilde Bonnefoy is a French film editor and director. Born in Paris in 1972, she briefly studied philosophy at the Sorbonne before moving to Berlin, where she worked as an assistant editor and became one of the first in the city to master the AVID editing system.
She edited Tom Tykwer's Run Lola Run (1998), for which she received a Deutscher Filmpreis and an ACE Eddie Award nomination. Bonnefoy has maintained a long collaboration with Tykwer, editing films including The Princess and the Warrior (2000), Heaven (2002), The International (2009) and Three (2010), the last of which earned her a second Deutscher Filmpreis. She has also worked with Wim Wenders.
Bonnefoy served as editor and co-producer on Laura Poitras's documentary Citizenfour (2014). The film won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, shared with Poitras and her husband Dirk Wilutzky, and she received an ACE Eddie Award for its editing.
