Biography
Matilda Thorpe is a British actress. She trained at London's Central School of Speech and Drama and began her career in television with roles in series such as Gems (1986) and EastEnders (1998).
She is known for her performances as Mandy Mosgrove in the Channel 4 sitcom Desmond's (1989–1994) and its spin-off Porkpie (1995–1996), Inspector Shaw in Bad Girls (2002), Claire Glass in Sick Note (2017–2018), Nina in the film One Life (2023), and Auntie Melody in Back to Black (2024). She has also appeared in Jay Kelly (2025) as Barbara.
Thorpe is the daughter of writers Gillian Freeman and Edward Thorpe, and the sister of actress Harriet Thorpe. Her stage work includes productions at the Garrick Theatre and the New Vic Theatre.
