Biography
Matthias Schweighöfer is a German actor and filmmaker. He was born on 11 March 1981 in Anklam, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The son of actors, he began his career with television and film roles in the late 1990s. He gained prominence in German cinema with parts in Soloalbum (2003) and Rabbit Without Ears (2007), and appeared as Lieutenant Franz Herber in the international production Valkyrie (2008).
Schweighöfer has worked in American films including Army of the Dead (2021) as Ludwig Dieter, Oppenheimer (2023) as Werner Heisenberg, and Heart of Stone (2023). He directed, produced and starred in the prequel Army of Thieves (2021). He voiced Ambassador Tegmen in the Pixar film Elio (2025).
