Biography
Maurice Sendak was an American writer and illustrator of children's books. He was born on 10 June 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, and died on 8 May 2012 in Danbury, Connecticut.
Sendak wrote and illustrated the 1963 picture book Where the Wild Things Are, which was adapted into a 2009 feature film directed by Spike Jonze. He served as a producer on the film. He also created the Little Bear books and wrote other works including In the Night Kitchen (1970) and Outside Over There (1981).
