Biography
May el-Toukhy is a Danish director and writer. She was born on 17 August 1977 in Charlottenlund, Denmark, and trained at the Danish National School of Performing Arts, graduating in 2002, and the National Film School of Denmark, graduating in 2009.
She directed four episodes of the Netflix series The Crown (2022–2023). Her feature films include Long Story Short (2015), Queen of Hearts (2019), for which she also wrote the screenplay, and Woman Unknown (2026). For the latter she won the Golden Lion at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.
