Biography
Mélanie Laurent is a French actress and filmmaker. Born in Paris on 21 February 1983, she began acting at the age of sixteen after being cast by Gérard Depardieu in a small role in the film The Bridge (1999).
She gained wider recognition in French cinema with supporting roles, including in Dikkenek (2006). Her breakthrough came with the lead in the drama Don't Worry, I'm Fine (2006), for which she won the César Award for Most Promising Actress and the Prix Romy Schneider.
Laurent made her international debut as Shosanna Dreyfus in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds (2009). She has since appeared in films including Now You See Me (2013), Enemy (2014) and 6 Underground (2019). She has received two César Awards and a Lumière Award, and has also directed feature films.
