Biography
Melissa Bretherton is a film editor. She began her career in the editorial department, working as an assistant editor and apprentice editor on films including Raging Bull (1980, credited as Mellissa Bretherton), Heaven's Gate (1980) and Caddyshack (1980). She later served as first assistant editor on titles such as Falling Down (1993).
Bretherton has edited feature films including Steal Me (2005), Rapture-Palooza (2013), Spy (2015), Ghostbusters (2016), Snatched (2017), Long Shot (2019), Lady and the Tramp (2019), Happiest Season (2020), The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022) and Me Time (2022). She has also worked as an additional editor on comedies such as Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004), Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006), Knocked Up (2007), Step Brothers (2008) and The Heat (2013).
