Biography
Melissa Kent is a film and television editor. She grew up in Virginia, Washington D.C., New Jersey and Los Angeles, and studied theatre at UCLA before an internship at Entertainment Tonight led her into editing. Her first feature credit was on Gregory Nava's My Family (1995).
Kent has worked on projects for Francis Ford Coppola and Sofia Coppola, including co-editing The Rainmaker (1997) and editing The Virgin Suicides (1999). Other credits include Crossroads (2002), The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 (2008), The Age of Adaline (2015), American Pastoral (2016), The Dirt (2019) and The Intruder (2019). She edited episodes of the Peacock series Poker Face (2023).
Kent has a background in music and dance, which has informed her work on music-centred films such as The Dirt and the biopic Mahalia (2021).
