Biography
Menahem Golan was an Israeli film producer, director and screenwriter. Born Menachem Globus in Tiberias in 1929, he later changed his surname and worked in theatre and film in Israel before forming a partnership with his cousin Yoram Globus.[[1]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menahem_Golan)[[2]](https://jewishvirtuallibrary.org/golan-menahem)
In 1979 the cousins acquired the Cannon Group and built it into a major independent studio known for low- and mid-budget action and genre films. Golan produced dozens of titles including Cobra (1986), Over the Top (1987), Masters of the Universe (1987) and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987).
