Biography
Mercedes Ruehl is an American actress who works in film, television and theatre. She was born on 28 February 1948 in Queens, New York, and studied at the College of New Rochelle and the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts.
She is known for her stage performance as Bella in Neil Simon's Lost in Yonkers (1991), for which she received a Tony Award, and for her film role as Anne in The Fisher King (1991), which brought her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and a Golden Globe. Other film credits include Big (1988), Married to the Mob (1988), Last Action Hero (1993) and Hustlers (2019). She has also appeared in television series such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Entourage.
