Biography
Michael Vittes was an American television producer, editor and director. He worked as a producer and supervising producer on Hill Street Blues (1981) during its later seasons, and held producer, co-executive producer and supervising producer roles on Northern Exposure (1990).
Vittes also produced episodes of Lou Grant (1977) and other series including A Peaceable Kingdom (1989) and Players (1997). He directed six episodes of Northern Exposure and one of Beverly Hills Buntz (1987). He received three Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, for Hill Street Blues and Northern Exposure.
Born in New York City on 13 December 1935, Vittes died in Los Angeles on 18 June 2026.
