Biography
Michaela Jaé Rodriguez is an American actress and singer. Born in Newark, New Jersey, she trained at Newark Arts High School and Berklee College of Music, and began her career in theatre.
She played Angel Dumott Schunard in an Off-Broadway revival of Rent in 2011, winning the Clive Barnes Award. Rodriguez gained prominence as Blanca Evangelista in the FX series Pose (2018–2021). She was the first transgender woman nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama.
Her other screen credits include roles in Nurse Jackie, Marvel's Luke Cage, tick, tick... BOOM! and Loot.
