Biography
Michelangelo Antonioni was an Italian film director, screenwriter and editor. He was born on 29 September 1912 in Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, and died on 30 July 2007 in Rome.
Antonioni studied economics at the University of Bologna. He is best known for the films L'Avventura (1960), La Notte (1961) and L'Eclisse (1962), often referred to as his trilogy on modernity, as well as Blow-Up (1966), Red Desert (1964), Zabriskie Point (1970) and The Passenger (1975). He also edited Zabriskie Point.
His work received numerous awards, including the Palme d'Or at Cannes for Blow-Up, the Golden Lion at Venice, and an honorary Academy Award in 1995.
