Biography

Mick Lally (10 November 1945 – 31 August 2010) was an Irish stage, film and television actor. He left a teaching career to pursue acting in the 1970s and co-founded the Druid Theatre Company in Galway in 1975 with Garry Hynes and Marie Mullen.

Lally was best known in Ireland for playing Miley Byrne in the long-running RTÉ soap opera Glenroe (1983–2000). His film roles included Hugh in The Secret of Roan Inish (1994), Dan Hogan in Circle of Friends (1995) and the Horse Seller in Alexander (2004). He provided the voice of Brother Aidan in the animated feature The Secret of Kells (2009).

He appeared in numerous stage productions over several decades and also featured in other television series such as Ballykissangel.
