Biography
Mike Johnson is an American stop-motion animator and director. He studied Film/Animation/Video at the Rhode Island School of Design and began his career as an assistant animator and rigger on The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). He later animated on James and the Giant Peach (1996) and directed episodes of the television series The PJs (1999–2001).
Johnson co-directed Corpse Bride (2005) with Tim Burton; the pair received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature. He founded Fat Cactus Films in 1996 and has directed the feature Ping Pong Rabbit (2017). He has taught stop-motion animation at the California Institute of the Arts and the University of California, Los Angeles.
