Biography
Mirosław Baszak is a Polish-born Canadian cinematographer. Born in Poland, he acted and worked in theatre there and studied history and theory at the University of Łódź. He emigrated to Germany in the early 1980s and then to Canada in 1983, where he attended Ryerson Polytechnical Institute's film course in 1984.
Baszak has worked as director of photography or in camera roles on numerous Canadian and American feature films and television series. His credits include Pontypool (2008), Land of the Dead (2005), The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (2009), House at the End of the Street (2012), The Strain (2014) and The Boys (2019). He has also served as second unit director of photography on films such as 300 (2006) and Carrie (2013).
Baszak received a Genie Award nomination for Best Achievement in Cinematography for Shake Hands with the Devil (2008) and a Canadian Society of Cinematographers Award nomination for Best Cinematography in a TV series for Rescuers: Stories of Courage: Two Families (1999).
