Biography
Mohsen Makhmalbaf is an Iranian film director, writer, editor and producer. He was born on 29 May 1957 in Tehran.
He directed, wrote, edited and served as production designer on Gabbeh (1996). He directed and produced Kandahar (2001). Other films include Salaam Cinema (1995), A Moment of Innocence (1997), The Apple (1998), Blackboards (2000) and The President (2014).
Makhmalbaf left Iran in 2005 and has lived in Paris since the 2009 Iranian presidential election.
