Biography
Moira Buffini is an English playwright and screenwriter. She was born in Cheshire and studied English and Drama at Goldsmiths College, University of London, before training as an actor at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.
Buffini began her career in theatre with plays including Gabriel (1997) and Dinner (2002). Her screenwriting credits include the adaptations Tamara Drewe (2010), Jane Eyre (2011) and The Dig (2021), the latter based on John Preston’s novel and nominated for a BAFTA for Best Adapted Screenplay. She created the television series Harlots (2017–2019) and wrote the screenplay for Viceroy’s House (2017). She has also written for the stage works such as Handbagged and Byzantium.
