Biography
Nathalie Baye was a French actress. Born in Mainneville, Eure, she trained at the Conservatoire national supérieur d’art dramatique in Paris and graduated in 1972. She began her film career in the early 1970s and appeared in more than 80 films. Baye received ten César Award nominations and won four: for Every Man for Himself (1980), Strange Affair (1981), La Balance (1982) and The Young Lieutenant (2005).
She became known for roles in Day for Night (1973) and The Return of Martin Guerre (1982). In 2002 she played Paula Abagnale in Catch Me If You Can. Later credits include Tell No One (2006), Laurence Anyways (2012), It’s Only the End of the World (2016), Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022) and Alibi.com 2 (2023). She was appointed Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 2009.
Baye died in Paris on 17 April 2026.
