Biography
Neil Fitzgerald (also credited as Cornelius James Neil Fitzgerald) was an Irish actor. Born in Tipperary, Ireland, he studied pharmacy at Trinity College Dublin but pursued a career on stage instead. His credited film debut came in 1935 as Tommy Connor in John Ford's The Informer.
Fitzgerald appeared in numerous films, often in supporting or uncredited roles, including Bride of Frankenstein (1935), The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1939), Niagara (1953) and Mirage (1965). He made his Broadway debut in Leave Her to Heaven in 1940 and performed in many Irish plays on Broadway. He also had extensive television credits and received a Drama Critics' Circle Award nomination in 1972 for his role in All Over. He died in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1982.
