Biography

Neil Hamilton (also credited as James Neil Hamilton) was an American actor whose career spanned silent films to television. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, he began in modelling before joining stock companies and making his film debut in 1918. He received a notable early role in D. W. Griffith's The White Rose (1923) and became a leading man at Paramount in the late 1920s.

Hamilton appeared in over 260 productions, including Tarzan the Ape Man (1932) and Tarzan and His Mate (1934) as Harry Holt, and later supporting parts in films such as The Patsy (1964) and The Family Jewels (1965). He is best known for portraying Commissioner Gordon in the Batman television series (1966–1968) and the 1966 feature film.
