Biography
Neil Young is a Canadian musician, composer and actor. Born on 12 November 1945 in Toronto, Ontario, he began his career in the 1960s in Winnipeg before moving to the United States.
Young composed and performed the soundtrack for Jim Jarmusch's Dead Man (1995), recording improvised guitar, piano and organ pieces while watching an early cut of the film. He has appeared as himself in concert documentaries including Woodstock (1970) and The Last Waltz (1978), and played a truck driver in Made in Heaven (1987). He has also directed films such as Human Highway (1982) and Greendale (2003).
Young was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist in 1995 and as a member of Buffalo Springfield in 1997.
