Biography
Nicholas Amer (also credited as Nicolas Amer) was an English stage, film and television actor. Born Thomas Harold Amer on 29 September 1923 in Tranmere, Birkenhead, he served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War before training at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. He made his professional stage debut in 1948 and became known for his extensive work in Shakespeare, performing more than 27 roles and touring to 31 countries with companies including the Old Vic.
Amer's screen credits include The Message (1976), The Draughtsman's Contract (1982), Treasure Island (1990), The Awakening (2011), The Deep Blue Sea (2011) as Mr Elton, ABCs of Death 2 (2014) and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016). He also appeared in television series such as I, Claudius (1976), Midsomer Murders and Jonathan Creek. Amer died on 17 November 2019.
