Biography
Nicholas Hope is a British-born Australian actor. Born in Manchester, England, on 25 December 1958, his family emigrated to Whyalla in South Australia. He trained at the University of Sydney, where he later completed a PhD in performance studies.
Hope is best known for his lead performance as Bubby in the 1993 film Bad Boy Bubby, for which he won the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 1994, along with awards at the Venice Film Festival and elsewhere. His other credits include Scooby-Doo (2002), Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004), Ash vs Evil Dead (2015), The Invisible Man (2020), The Artful Dodger (2023) and the role of Deliverance Healer in Leviticus (2026). He has also worked extensively in theatre and as a director and teacher.
