Biography
Nick Schenk is an American screenwriter. He was born on 12 November 1965 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and grew up in the neighbouring city of Fridley. He graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 1989.
Schenk began his career writing for and appearing in the television series Let's Bowl in the 1990s and early 2000s, and worked as a writer and producer on Bodog Fight. His breakthrough came with the screenplay for Gran Torino (2008), which he also co-wrote the story for; the film was directed by and starred Clint Eastwood. For the script, Schenk received the National Board of Review award for Best Original Screenplay.
He has continued to collaborate with Eastwood on The Mule (2018) and Cry Macho (2021). Other credits include the story and screenplay for The Judge (2014), episodes of Narcos (2015), and the story and screenplay for A Christmas Story Christmas (2022).
