Biography
Nils Pagh Andersen (also credited as Niels Pagh Andersen) is a Danish film editor. He began working as an assistant editor in the mid-1970s and has edited several hundred films since 1979, working in both fiction and documentary.
His breakthrough came as editor of Pathfinder (1987), directed by Nils Gaup. He has collaborated extensively with directors including Joshua Oppenheimer on The Act of Killing (2012) and The Look of Silence (2014), Pirjo Honkasalo on The 3 Rooms of Melancholia (2004), and Ai Weiwei on Human Flow (2017). Other credits include Everlasting Moments (2008) and The End (2024).
Andersen is the author of the book Order in Chaos: Storytelling and Editing in Documentary Film (2021). He has taught at film schools and festivals, served as professor of editing at the Norwegian Film School, and received the Danish Roos Prize in 2005.
