Biography
Ona Munson was an American actress who appeared in stage productions, films and radio. Born Owena Elizabeth Wolcott on 16 June 1903 in Portland, Oregon, she made her Broadway debut in 1919 in George White's Scandals and achieved early success as the ingenue in the original production of No, No, Nanette. She introduced the song "You're the Cream in My Coffee" in the 1927 musical Hold Everything.
Munson moved to Hollywood in 1930 and made her feature debut in Going Wild. She appeared in The Hot Heiress (1931), Broadminded (1931) and Five Star Final (1931) as Kitty Carmody. After a period away from the screen she returned in 1938 and played Belle Watling in Gone with the Wind (1939). Later roles included 'Mother' Gin Sling in The Shanghai Gesture (1941) and Mrs Storm in The Red House (1947). She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
