Biography
Orson Bean was an American actor and comedian. Born Dallas Frederick Burrows on 22 July 1928 in Burlington, Vermont, he began his career in the early 1950s as a stand-up comedian and stage magician before making his Broadway debut in 1954.
Bean appeared in films including Anatomy of a Murder (1959) and Innerspace (1987), and was known for television roles such as Loren Bray in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (1993–1998) and Dr. Lester in Being John Malkovich (1999). He was a regular panelist on the game show To Tell the Truth and made numerous appearances on talk shows.
He co-founded the Pacific Resident Theatre in Venice, California. Bean died on 7 February 2020 in Los Angeles after being struck by cars while walking.
