Biography
Otto Yamaoka (also credited as Otto Han Yamaoka, Otto Hahn and other variants) was an American actor of Japanese descent. Born in Seattle, Washington, on 25 April 1904, he worked in Hollywood primarily during the 1930s, appearing in numerous films in small or uncredited roles, often as comic servants or ethnic characters. His sister Iris Yamaoka was also an actress.
His film credits include Ching in Libeled Lady (1936), Kashimo in The Black Camel (1931), and uncredited parts in Morning Glory (1933) and The Letter (1940). He also appeared in a 1962 episode of the television series Naked City. Yamaoka's acting career largely ended around 1940; he later worked as an importer and was interned with his family at Heart Mountain during the Second World War. He died in New York City on 5 June 1967.
