Biography
Paul Hepker is a South African composer, pianist and musical director. Born in Zimbabwe on 17 December 1967, he trained as a concert pianist under Adolphe Hallis and worked as a musical director in South African theatre before moving to Los Angeles in 1997.
He is known for his film scores, often composed with Mark Kilian. Their collaborations include Tsotsi (2005), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Rendition (2007), Eye in the Sky (2015) and Official Secrets (2019), all directed by Gavin Hood. Other credits include Shepherds and Butchers (2017) and Kite (2014).
Hepker has also composed for numerous television series, notably Discovery Channel programmes such as Deadliest Catch, and has worked extensively in theatre, receiving an Ovation Award and LA Weekly Awards for productions with the Circle X company.
