Biography
Pearl Mackie is a British actress. She is best known for playing Bill Potts, companion to the Twelfth Doctor, in the 2017 series of Doctor Who (2005) and the 2017 Christmas special Twice Upon a Time.
Mackie grew up in Brixton, London. She earned a drama degree from the University of Bristol and graduated from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 2010. Her first major television role was as Anne-Marie Frasier in the BBC soap opera Doctors (2014). She has also appeared in Friday Night Dinner (2020), Greed (2019), Horizon Line (2020) and The Diplomat (2023). She is the granddaughter of screenwriter Philip Mackie.
