Biography
Peggy Mount was an English actress of stage and screen. She began her career in repertory theatre in the 1940s and gained prominence in 1955 with her West End debut as Emma Hornett in Sailor Beware!.
She became known for playing domineering middle-aged women in plays, films and television. Her film roles included Mrs. Bumble in Oliver! (1968). On television she appeared in series such as The Larkins (1958–1964), George and the Dragon (1966–1968) and episodes of Doctor Who (1963) and Inspector Morse (1987). She joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in the 1980s and received an OBE in 1996.
