Biography
Penny Johnson Jerald is an American actress. She was born on 14 March 1961 in Baltimore, Maryland, and trained at the Juilliard School.
Her early television work included a recurring role as Vivian Conway in The Paper Chase (1984–1986). She played Beverly Barnes on the HBO series The Larry Sanders Show (1992–1998). Other notable roles include Kasidy Yates in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1995–1999), Sherry Palmer in 24 (2001–2004), Victoria Gates in Castle (2009–2016) and Dr Claire Finn in The Orville (2017–2022). She voiced Sarafina in the 2019 film The Lion King.
Jerald received CableACE and NAACP Image Award nominations for her work on The Larry Sanders Show. With her husband Gralin Jerald she founded the Outreach Christian Theater Company in 1994.
