Biography
Peter Elliott is a New Zealand actor. Born in Christchurch in 1956, he began working in television set construction before turning to acting. He joined the Court Theatre in Christchurch in 1980 and made his television debut in the late 1980s.
Elliott played Bill Perry in Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures (1994). He is known for his role as Dr David Kearney in the long-running soap Shortland Street (1996–1999, with later returns) and as Rex Thorne in the 1980s series Gloss. He has also appeared in 800 Words and numerous other New Zealand television productions, as well as on stage.
Elliott has worked as a television presenter and narrator. In 2021 he was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) for services to the performing arts.
