Biography
Peter Harness is an English playwright, screenwriter, producer and actor. Born in January 1976 in Hornsea, East Yorkshire, he studied English at Oriel College, Oxford, where he was president of the Oxford Revue. His first original stage play, Mongoose, was performed in 2003.
Harness has written extensively for television. He contributed episodes to Doctor Who (2005) between 2014 and 2017, adapted Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell (2015) for the BBC, and created the series Constellation (2024). Other credits include The War of the Worlds (2019), McMafia (2018), Wallander (2008) and Case Histories (2011). He also wrote the feature film Is Anybody There? (2009).
He has received the Dennis Potter Screenwriting Award and was nominated for a Writers' Guild of Great Britain Award.
