Biography

Peter Kurth is a German actor. Born on 4 April 1957 in Güstrow, he trained at the Schauspielschule Rostock from 1978 to 1981. He began his career in East German theatres before moving to ensembles including the Thalia Theater in Hamburg and the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin.

Kurth is known for film and television roles including the 'X-TV' boss in Good Bye, Lenin! (2003), Bruno Wolter in the series Babylon Berlin (2017–), and the lead in A Heavy Heart (2015), for which he received the German Film Award for Best Actor in 2016. Other credits include In the Aisles (2018), Inventing Anna (2022) and the series Polizeiruf 110. He was named Actor of the Year by the magazine Theater heute in 2014.
