Biography
Peter McDonald is an Irish stage and screen actor and director. Born on 28 January 1972 in Dublin, he grew up in Mount Merrion, County Dublin. He was educated at St Michael's College and graduated from University College Dublin with degrees in English.
He made his film debut in I Went Down (1997) and has appeared in The Dig (2021) as Guy Maynard, The Batman (2022) as William Kenzie, The Penguin (2024) as William Kenzie, and Power Ballad (2026) as Sandy. He co-wrote the latter film with John Carney.
McDonald wrote and directed the short film Pentecost, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film. He has also worked extensively in theatre and television, including roles in The Last Kingdom and A Discovery of Witches.
